Crypto recap for Tuesday, November 3, 2026

What happened

Overall it was a red day in crypto. The combined value of the 100 biggest coins (their market cap) was about $2.59 trillion, -1.1% over the last 24 hours. Of the 73 best-known coins in the top 100 (stablecoins and wrapped tokens left out), 18 went up and 55 went down.

Biggest risers among those: Stacks (STX, +3.5%), World Liberty Financial (WLFI, +2.2%), TRON (TRX, +1.8%). Biggest fallers: NEAR Protocol (NEAR, -6.8%), Kaspa (KAS, -5.9%), Zcash (ZEC, -5.7%).

Why it might have happened

Bitcoin makes up about 60% of the whole market (that's Bitcoin dominance), so when it moves, most other coins tend to follow. Today Bitcoin (-1.2%) and the wider market moved in the same direction, which suggests a market-wide mood rather than news about one coin. Sharp moves in individual smaller coins are often driven by coin-specific news, token unlocks, or simple speculation. We don't guess at causes we can't verify.

Headlines from today's crypto news (we link them; we don't claim they caused the moves):

What it means for a beginner

A one-day move, up or down, says very little about the long run. Red days feel scary, but selling in a panic often locks in a loss. Notice that the biggest movers (3% in a day) are usually smaller coins. Smaller coins swing much harder in both directions.

Tiny glossary

market cap
Market cap (market capitalization) is a coin's price multiplied by how many coins exist. It's a rough way to compare how 'big' different coins are.
Bitcoin dominance
Bitcoin dominance is Bitcoin's share of the total crypto market cap. When it rises, money is concentrating in Bitcoin relative to other coins.
altcoin
An altcoin is any cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin.
