Daily recap
Crypto recap for Thursday, November 5, 2026
What happened
Overall it was a noticeably green day in crypto. The combined value of the 100 biggest coins (their market cap) was about $2.70 trillion, +1.6% over the last 24 hours. Of the 74 best-known coins in the top 100 (stablecoins and wrapped tokens left out), 50 went up and 24 went down.
- Bitcoin (BTC, +1.7%) trades at $79,604.00 (7 days: -0.6%).
- Ethereum (ETH, +3.3%) trades at $2,391.48 (7 days: +2.9%).
- XRP (XRP, +2.0%) trades at $1.30 (7 days: +1.1%).
Biggest risers among those: Pearl (PEARL, +13.0%), Injective (INJ, +7.7%), Cosmos Hub (ATOM, +7.0%). Biggest fallers: World Liberty Financial (WLFI, -10.2%), Venice Token (VVV, -8.8%), LayerZero (ZRO, -7.0%).
Why it might have happened
Bitcoin makes up about 60% of the whole market (that's Bitcoin dominance), so when it moves, most other coins tend to follow. Today Bitcoin (+1.7%) and the wider market moved in the same direction, which suggests a market-wide mood rather than news about one coin. Sharp moves in individual smaller coins are often driven by coin-specific news, token unlocks, or simple speculation. We don't guess at causes we can't verify.

What it means for a beginner
A one-day move, up or down, says very little about the long run. Big green days can create FOMO (fear of missing out); buying in a rush after a jump is a classic beginner mistake. Notice that the biggest movers (13% in a day) are usually smaller coins. Smaller coins swing much harder in both directions.
Tiny glossary
- market cap
- Market cap (market capitalization) is a coin's price multiplied by how many coins exist. It's a rough way to compare how 'big' different coins are.
- Bitcoin dominance
- Bitcoin dominance is Bitcoin's share of the total crypto market cap. When it rises, money is concentrating in Bitcoin relative to other coins.
- altcoin
- An altcoin is any cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin.
